BLESS THIS MESS

Last week, Mr. Beers and I had a one-day work week. We found out during the previous weekend that Wayne's uncle had passed away, so we spent the remainder of the weekend and all day Monday working, tying up loose ends, and making arrangements to go to Hicksville, New York.

Though the trip was for the saddest of ocassions, it was also for the sweetest of reasons: to celebrate the life of someone who was dearly loved with family members who genuinely enjoy each other's company. It reminds me of one of my favorite lines from Steel Magnolias. Truvy says, "Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion."

After days of laughter, tears, hugs and kisses,  and lots of family stories, we eventually made it back to San Antonio - to home and to W. D. Deli. You know this already, but I'll say it anyway: There's no place like home. Your own bed. Your own pillow. Just. The. Best.

In much the same sense, at least for us, there's no place like W. D. Deli. This great old house. The really, really nice people we get to work with who greet each other every day with a smile and a "Good morning." Our beautiful eclectic collection of friends and customers who visit us on Broadway. It's like a second home and a second family.

It's good to be back. Bless this mess. It's just the best.
