Every December Mr. Beers and I get out some paper and a writing utensil or two and do a little thinking. We look back at the year that we've just (almost) completed, and anticipate the new year that's waiting for us right around the corner.
As small business owners, we feel it's important to look back and think about the goals that we had for this year, and celebrate the things that we've been able to do, as well as look forward to the coming year and talk about the things that we hope to accomplish in the months ahead.
This year we created a new logo, and used it in new to-go packaging, as well as employee uniforms and on our deli delivery van. We were inspired by the trends in graphics, and yet wanted to keep the look recognizable as W. D. Deli. We hope you like it. We think the new logo looks classic and current.
This year we got a new ice machine. That may seem pretty boring to you, but we're pretty jazzed about it - crushed ice!
Menu wise, we have added the Hot Pastrami Sandwich, the Butterscotch & Black Salt Cookie, and probably something else that I'm forgetting. We changed our Tuesday soup of the day from Tomato Chipotle to Broccolli & Cheese.
Those are some of the things that happened in 2013. And we have a few new tricks up our sleeves for 2014.
One of the things we are looking forward to is painting the exterior of the deli. Plans are firming up with painters, and sometime in January, we're hoping it'll be harder for you to drive down Broadway and not notice our newly painted digs.
Another change that we're hoping to implement soon is extended hours. We feel it's a good time for us to think about staying open until 9:00 p.m. What do you think? It seems like the area around the deli is being developed more and more as an urban residential area, and we feel like W. D. Deli would be a great place for our neighbors to stop in for a fast casual bite to eat in the evening.
As always, we look forward to providing good, fresh food in a funky, friendly atmosphere that people will enjoy. 2013 has been a good year, and we're excited to see what 2014 has in store!
